Three strangers whose lives are mysteriously entwined with the supernatural must face malicious forces that threaten a Navajo Reservation — and walk the line between the living and the dead. An epic box set that blends Navajo mythology with Southwestern mystery!
Follow the Crow (Book 1)
Ben Dejooli is a Navajo cop who can't escape his past. Six years ago his little sister Ana vanished without a trace. His best friend saw what happened but he refuses to speak of what he knows, and so was banished from the Navajo tribe. That was the day the crows started following Ben. What the crows know will change his life, and the lives of those he loves, forever.
Beyond the Veil (Book 2)
The bell that holds power over life and death has been lost. The race to find it has begun, and our world hangs in the balance.
Caroline and Owen search for the bell across the land of the living. Ben Dejooli, now known as the Walker, searches the land of the dead. Their mission is to protect the bell and keep it secret. Others seek the bell as well, but they have different plans... plans that could disrupt the careful balance between life and death that has stood since the beginning of time.
When a young boy finds the bell out in the plains of Texas, he quickly becomes the target of a showdown between the lands of the living and the dead, and those that want to rule over both.
The Coyote Way (Book 3)
The Walker chases a rogue spirit, something dark and chaotic that broke through into the land of the living and took on the form of a coyote.
Caroline and Owen have been on the move for years trying to find a place to call home. Caroline remains torn--her heart split in two. Half of her loves Owen, the other half still loves Ben. Grant travels with them, but he struggles with the weight of his position as Keeper and wants to carve his own path. Everywhere they go they find a strange malice and unease waiting for them. The coyote's handiwork.
They don't know it yet, but all of them are travelling in the same direction. Back to Chaco Navajo Reservation . . . which is exactly what the coyote wants.

I couldn't wait to get through the third book and holy smokes did it not disappoint. From the first pages, The Coyote Way throws you back into the surrealist world Griffith has created, but at the same time the character development makes you feel like each of the narrators are one of your closest friends letting you in on some genuine, good secrets. The scene description is just so, a seriously strong trait of the author that is highlighted throughout all of his books - and his plot lines carry so beautifully you never feel like you're left out of a single detail. The idea of showing the reader or viewer what the afterlife is like is something being touched on a lot. The OA, for example, on Netflix, I hated, but it tries to do the same sort of thing. These books, on the other hand, really master it so creatively. A guide! Into the ether! What a comforting, if sort of eerie, idea. Rather than making it feel weird or fake, the author conquers this idea in a truly beautiful way.
This is really one of those series you will do anything to avoid putting down, and it's actually a series that satisfies! Each book adds upon the previous one, and the final book really allows you to feel complete. Well done, B.B. Griffith, I can't wait to see what else you put out.

The Vanished Series Books 13 eBook B B Griffith Reviews
I got the boxset on 1 Sept and finished it today, 6 Sept. I usually zip through books as fast as I can turn the pages, but this set made me slow down and think about the story. The tension builds with every page, leaving you breathless waiting for the next twist. And there are many twists in the set. The ending is the biggest twist of all, one I never anticipated. The paranormal became normal as the story progresses. Enjoy this set! It's well worth your time.
I would have given this Action packed Supernatural Navajo Myth series a 5, but I almost didn't buy it because of inaccuracies. Maybe it's picky, but it's irritating as well when an author bothers to deeply and respectfully research Sacred Mythology and Origins and then can't get the place's physical directions right in the first paragraph. Santa Fe, NM is East to SE of Chaco NHP and the Rez. In the last book, St. Francis Cathedral is on the East end of the Internationally famous Santa Fe Plaza, not the west. There are other oddities like the use of "bonnet" and "Hoover" (for car hood and vacuum) when there are no English/UK characters in the book. My concern is in regard to other overlooked errors that could effect the Navajo Nation or NM due to sloppiness and not intended disrespect.
Fortunately, this is fiction and we get to suspend belief (a begrudging smile here). Griffith does it well. The storytelling grabbed me from the onset. He takes a first person account for each character who then gets to tell their viewpoint in their own chapters. I find this to be an awesome way to deepen the character profile and perspective and move the story along with personal detail.
We're on a wild ride as mythologies intersect Totems, Auras, Transitioning Death, Possession, Guardians and Keepers, Healers, Singers, Chaos and Death as the Walker...Guide to the other side. This other side's barrier gets corrupted and causes mayhem, which is the premise of the series. We get a real under the skin feel for the gritty SouthWest and its people as Worlds, Nations and Beliefs all collide.
Great series read! The combination of mystery, afterlife, and Native American tradition makes for a thrilling night time puzzle.
Recommended the series to my wife who's now recommended it to her parents. 5 Stars.
This book had me hooked from the first page. I loved the characters and the author's development of them. The story was highly entertaining, suspenseful, and educational. At least now I know a bit about the Navajo people, actually, a lot more than I did previously. I loved, loved, loved the crow, he had me chuckling out loud at times. I highly recommend this book, it has something from every genre of books, something for everyone.
So well- woven.I don't know how to describe why I loved this book(really,it's one long amazing book). It was a departure for my normal genres I read, which are mystery /romance combos. The humor in this tale is dark, and perfectly fits the subject which is Death. There are many things this white chick learned about Navajo ways while reading it.Perhaps it's even a jumping off point for learning even more.I know one thing,Chaco the "thin thing",a huge crow who talks like a beach bum, totally stole my heart. But the story isn't about a crow.Crows definitely play a role, however.Love plays a role, even in death,...nifty little triangle between Ben,a Navajo cop who dies and becomes,The Walker,(not a spoiler alert)!Caroline, his oncology nurse, and Owen, the doctor in love, with her.Together with Grant, they form a powerful force to try to balance the chaos by Coyote.I'm not going to explain any further. Each chapter is,by turn, written in the voice of the four main characters.I loved that best about all three novels.
I just finished the three available books of the Vanished series. I reallyreally think they'd make an excellent series on Netflix etc. I'm dead serious. Everything about these books is very strongly written and compelling in my opinion. Characters, plot, action sequences, descriptive prose, all of it. I had to sit on the bench for a few minutes after I got off the bus today to finish the chapter I was on because I knew I'd be busy when I got home, and I just Had.To. Know.
Modern fantasy, mixed with traditional Navajo lore. Charles De Lint with a hint of Stephen King. What a ride! I so hope there will be more in this series!!
